I grew up understanding adversity — not as a concept, but as a lived experience. I watched people around me survive things they were never supposed to survive alone. And I watched what happened when they didn't have support: relationships fractured, potential went untapped, and pain became permanent when it didn't have to be.
That's why I built Courage + Motivation: not just as a practice, but as a space where people who are holding everything together for everyone else can finally — finally — be held too.
Over the past decade-plus, I've had the privilege of working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and life transitions. I've worked with families who love each other but can't stop hurting each other. I've worked with high-functioning professionals who look fine on the outside but are quietly falling apart on the inside.
What I've learned across all of it is this: healing isn't about being fixed. It's about being met — with honesty, compassion, and the practical tools to actually move forward.
That's what I bring to every session.

I believe that courage isn't the absence of fear — it's showing up anyway.
Every person who walks into a therapy session (even a virtual one) is already demonstrating courage. My job is to make that courage count.
I believe mental health care should be practical, not just theoretical.
The insights you gain in our sessions should translate directly to your relationships, your work, your parenting, your sense of self. Not someday — now.
And I believe that the people who are always "the strong one" deserve care the most — because strength without support eventually breaks.
If you've spent years helping everyone else, this is your permission to be helped.

Beyond his private practice, Coty is the founder of Adversity University — an educational initiative that brings mental health, resilience training, and personal development programming to schools, organizations, and communities.
The Unlock Your Greatness curriculum, student-athlete development programs, and group coaching intensives are all rooted in the same philosophy that guides his clinical work: that growth is possible for everyone, in any circumstance.
